Windhoek - Etosha NP - Windhoek
Departure: Every Tuesday, minimum of 2 pax and maximum of 9 pax traveling together in a group.
The total includes transport, lodging (bed & breakfast or full board) and park entrance fees. Water will be availed for the duration of the tour and the game drive. Other expenses like meals, laundry and drinks as well as all other activities provided for by the institution but not included in this package are for the account of the guests.
The activities on this trip are found in the four Regions of the Land of the Brave, namely, Khomas (Windhoek), Otjozondjupa (Otjiwarongo), Kunene (Outjo & Etosha) and Oshikoto (Tsumeb, Etosha & Lake Oshikoto). The characteristics of the city and towns en route this trip, in a nutshell, are as follows:
Windhoek is the capital of the Khomas Region and of the country.
The town of Okahandja is known for the historical events/ developments which had taken place in/or around the town and in addition it is also referred to and regarded as the garden town of the country. Other attraction is the Open Air Street Craft Market.
Otjiwarongo is the economic hub and administrative Capital of the Otjozondjupa Region. There is an area around Otjiwarongo known as Cheetah world. Two famous cheetah sanctuaries are found and are located in this area. Namibia has the largest population of cheetahs which are approximately 3000 in the country. The other attraction is the Waterberg Mountain/Plateau and National Park and some of the very big privately owned game parks are found in this area Another highlight as an attraction, namely the extinct Dinosaurs Tracks, are found on one of these reserves.
Outjo is the gateway to Etosha National Park. The national Park is famous for free roaming animals who have the right of way in the park.
Tsumeb is the other gateway to Etosha and is the mining town and in addition all kind of semi- precious mineral stones are found in the surrounding areas. Another highlight in this area is that two famous inland water lakes, namely Guinas and Otjikoto are found north of Tsumeb some 20Km on the B1 Trans Angola national High way.
Lodging will be provided for at the Resorts in the park or on one of the lodges closest to Von Lindequest gate.
Itinerary
Day 1: The guests will be picked up at the accommodation establishments in Windhoek and depart to Okahandja. Short stopover to make use of restrooms and continue thereafter with the trip to Otjiwarongo. Quick stopover in Otjiwarongo before proceeding to Outjo for a lunch stop. Enter the Etosha National Park at Anderson’s Gate and arrival at the Okaukuejo Rest camp and check in for lodging. The afternoon is free for leisure and / or possible short game drive in the park visiting close by water holes. Dinner followed by game viewing at the water hole by the resort is next on the program.
Day 2: Breakfast and depart for the game drive in the Park on the way to Namutoni Rest camp which is also located in the Park. There will be a Lunch Break at Halali Rest camp which lies almost half way between the above mentioned Resorts. The game drive will continue until arrival at Namutoni Rest camp. Check in for lodging, the afternoon is reserved for leisure time which will be followed by dinner and retire thereafter for the evening. Night game viewing at the water hole of the Rest camp is another possibility.
Day: 3 Breakfast and depart for Windhoek exiting the Park through von Lindequest Gate on the eastern side of the Park. Drive southwards on the B1 Trans- Angola Main National Highway towards the mining town of Tsumeb, where we will stop to make use of the restrooms, however, with a quick stop over to visit the fascinating Lake Otjikoto. The trip will continue to Otjiwarongo with a lunch stop and will proceed to Okahandja. We will visit the Open Air Street Craft Market in Okahandja before proceeding to Windhoek our end destination.
