  • Product Description of the Activities in Resume.

The activities start in Windhoek, Khomas Region. Windhoek is the capital of the Region and of the country.

We will be proceeding to the Kalahari Desert, Hardap Region, which is in fact a semi- arid and sandy savannah desert extending for over 900 000sqk and is covering only some parts of South Africa, Namibia and Botswana. The Kalahari basin also stretches into parts of Angola, Zimbabwe and Zambia.

The second and next leg will take us to the Fish River Canyon, Karas Region, the largest in Africa and second in the world after Grand Canyon in the USA.

The third leg will take us on the B4 National Highway to the southern coastal area also in the Karas Region including the small town of Aus on the way and ending in the iconic and historical harbor town of Luderitz. The highlights and places of attractions to be visited on this leg inter alia include Garub, Wild Horses and Kolmanskop, the almost extinct former diamond town now known as ghost town as well as Luderitz, the second very historic harbor town and the surroundings.
The second last leg of the tour will take us to the middle of the Namib Naukluft Park in Hardap Region and will end in Windhoek.

One of the main attraction and highlight of the tour is the visit to Sossusvlei which is in the heart of the Namib Sand Sea located in the Namib Desert, the oldest desert on earth with some of the highest and breathtaking Dunes in the world. The Namib Sand Sea is the second UNESCO World Heritage Site in Namibia. Namibia was accorded this recognition by the Convention in 2013. The above mentioned area is located in the famous Namib-Naukluft Park.

The idea behind the establishment of the initial portion of the park, when created, was to conserve the fauna and flora around the coastal towns and areas covering the Namib gravel Plains and was thus proclaimed in 1968 as The Namib Desert Park.

Following the developments leading up to the proclamation and the Amalgamation, [Namib Desert Park & Naukluft Mountain Zebra Park, the idea with this Park was to create a sanctuary to safeguard the rare and endangered Hartmann’s mountain Zebra.]. Portions of land bought from farmers were added to form part of the park. This amalgamated area serves as continuous conservation known as Namib-Naukluft Park with the size of 23 340sqkm. Portions of Diamond areas 1 and 2 were added in 1986 to the mentioned part increasing the size of the Park to colossal 49 768sqkm making it the third largest park in Africa.

Our last leg of the tour will follow the road via Spreetshoogte Pass, the deepest in the country, ascending from the Namib desert side back to Windhoek in the Central Khomas Highlands/Plateau which lies approximately 1000m above sea level. Driving through the Spreetshoogte Pass offers spectacular views from the top to the bottom. This is a rarity and a paradise for nature lovers and photographers.

We will connect with Rehoboth and reach our end destination in Windhoek.
